Your privacy
We are fully committed in working to the Data Protection Act 1998. The Data Protection Act regulates how organisations gather and use personal information and allows people to access information about themselves.
Data protection

For our Web site in particular, there are several principles which we use:
- Photographic images of individuals are treated as personal data. Images of crowds in a public area are not. When taking photographs intended for publication on our Web site or elsewhere it is our policy to seek the written permission of any recognisable individual.
- The computers which host our Web sites maintain site logs which include the IP address of all machines accessing our pages. An IP address is a unique reference which all computers have, that allows them to connect to other computer(s) over the Internet. Without an IP address you would not be able to use the Web. It is like trying to post a letter without an address. We only use these logs to determine Web site usage and not to identify or get information about specific users. Any IP information is treated as strictly confidential and is not published.
- Some areas of the site may set cookies without any further notice if they are required for technical reasons. Currently the areas that require cookies include the on-line payments system and the on-line planning application database. Other areas where cookies are only required to give extra features will ask if you would like to store a cookie. Cookies will only be used to provide the services that you have requested.
- We will respond promptly to any request to remove photographic images and/or personal data from the Web site where the person making such a request has a right to do so under the Data Protection Act.
- All electronic forms will contain a clear statement as to the use of the information, and will give you the option of whether you wish information to be shared across departments.
Please see our Data protection page for more information.
Surveys and online polls
On occasion we may conduct online surveys and polls. This is to gauge our service or to collect useful information.
Security
While we strive to maintain the security of any information you supply over the Internet - by using secure data encryption - please be aware that the Internet is not a fully secure environment.
Policy changes
By using our Web site you agree to accept this privacy policy and are aware that the policy may change with time. Any changes to this policy will appear on this page.
Possible exclusions
We do not guarantee this Web site will be compatible with all customers' computers, operating systems or browsers.
