Your guide to the Olympic Relay in Mansfield

A handy guide to the Olympic Torch Relay's visit to Mansfield is now available in Mansfield District Council's offices, libraries, museum, Palace Theatre and community buildings.

The leaflet contains helpful information on the timings of the relay through the streets of the District, details of road closures, the names of the Torchbearers, car park and toilet locations, along with an illustrated map.

Olympic Torch Relay

The Torch will be coming to Mansfield on 28 June, which is day 41 of its journey across the country in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

People of Mansfield District and surrounding communities are invited to line the route to welcome the Olympic Flame, share in the excitement the relay will bring and celebrate the achievements of the local Torchbearers.

Letters have been sent to residents and businesses along the route which explains what they can expect on the day and inform them about traffic management issues.

Local people intending to line the route are encouraged to plan their journey in advance and allow plenty of time. People seeking to travel may also consider travelling by walking or cycling on that date, where possible

Executive Mayor Tony Egginton, said: "The excitement is building and we are looking forward to seeing the Olympic flame pass through the streets of Mansfield on Thursday 28 June. This is a once in a life time experience and I'd encourage everyone to line streets to witness this momentous occasion."
