Film celebrates volunteering
To mark National Volunteers' Week (1 to 7 June), Mansfield District Council has commissioned a short film which celebrates volunteering across the District and highlights the benefits achieved to the individuals and the local community.
The film, which is called Celebrating Volunteering, recognises and celebrates volunteering and was launched at the Mansfield Volunteer Awards evening on Friday 25 May.
The film shows ways that people can volunteer within Mansfield District Council as well as for other organisations in the Mansfield area via the Mansfield Community Volunteer Service.
Within the District Council there are volunteering opportunities to get involved in including the friends of parks groups, tenants and residents groups, sports groups, citizens panel and tenants and residents mystery shoppers.
The film was put together in partnership with the Mansfield Community Volunteer Centre and was made by A Star Media. It is available to view by clicking on the Volunteering link on the right hand side of this page.
The film will be used in local schools for citizenship and democracy workshops and is available for tenants and residents groups to promote.
Dawn Meade, Deputy Youth Mayor, features in the film. She said: "The film was so inspiring and shows that young people do volunteer to not only help communities, but it looks good on your CV and it can help to get experience and get onto the job ladder."
