Crowds turn out to celebrate new bandstand

It was a great turn out at yesterday's celebration event to mark the official opening of the new bandstand in Carr Bank Park.

The glorious sunshine brought out an estimated 200 people, who sat back and enjoyed the range of entertainment in and around the park's newest attraction.

Carr Bank Park Bandstand opening

The Edwardian-styled bandstand was officially opened by Executive Mayor Tony Egginton and Carr Bank ward councillor Christine Smith. This was then followed by performances by Pleasley Colliery Brass Band, Blidworth Colliery Brass Band, Mansfield-based blues band TTL Overdrive and local singer Jess Allman who was joined by Sean Hallam on guitar.

A Punch and Judy show and stilt walkers also kept children entertained during the afternoon.

The bandstand will be used not only for traditional brass band and musical performances but for drama performances and more contemporary musical acts in the future.
