Brown bins go into hibernation for the winter
The brown bin recycling scheme will be suspended during the winter months and will restart in early spring in time for the first lawn cuttings.
For households whose brown bin is collected on a blue bin week, the final week of collection will be the commencing 14 November 2011 on the usual collection day.
For households whose brown bin is collected on a green bin week, the final week of collection will be the week commencing 21 November 2011 on the usual collection day.
All the garden waste that is collected by the brown bin service is composted locally and reused on agricultural land.
The brown bin garden waste service is in addition to the existing green general refuse bin and the blue recycling bin, which will still be carried out on alternate weeks as normal throughout the winter period.
