Swing into the summer holidays with free professional golf lessons

A professional golfer will be running free golf lessons as part of Mansfield District Council's summer holiday programme of activities.

PGA Golf Professional Kirsty McDonald will be coaching children and adults on the King George V Park in Mansfield.

The golf lessons will be running on 3, 5 10 and 12 August. The sessions will be taking place between 10am and 12 noon for juniors aged 15 and under and between 2pm and 4pm for everyone aged 16 and over.

Each golf lesson lasts for two hours with a maximum of 20 people attending each session. The sessions will be tailored to the abilities of the groups.

The children's sessions are now fully booked up but adult spaces are still available.

Shaun Hird, Sports Development Officer at Mansfield District Council, said: "As a Council we are always trying to think of new ways to encourage people to get active and to get involved in sports and activities that they might not have thought of trying before.

"This is a great way of having a golf taster session and what better way to learn than with a professional instructor. I hope that these free lessons will encourage people to take up the sport and who knows we might discover future pro golfers!"

Cllr Philip Shields, Portfolio Holder for Environment at Mansfield District Council, said: "This is a great opportunity for both adults and kids to have fun, get active and learn a new skill during the summer holidays."
