Mutual Exchanges
A Mutual Exchange is when an existing tenant from either a local authority, ALMO or Housing Association decides that they would like to exchange their homes with another tenant.
Mansfield District Council has joined with "HOMESWAPPER" so that MDC tenants may advertise their properties for free on the HomeSwapper website - www.homeswapper.co.uk. Please visit "HomeSwapper" to view all local and national exchanges advertised through HomeSwapper.
Alternatively, to register for a Mutual Exchange, you will need to complete an application form. The form is available from Mansfield District Council's housing office at the Civic Centre.
Homefinder displays a list of requests from tenants who wish to exchange properties. These requests are also from tenants seeking to move into the Mansfield area from elsewhere. If you wish to move to another area outside of Mansfield, you would need to contact the relevant local Council.
Please contact Homefinder for more details on 01623 463402 or view www.homeswapper.co.uk for local and national mutual exchange details.
To arrange a swap:
- Find another tenant who might wish to swap properties with
- Contact them as you will need to arrange to view each other's properties.
- If you both still want to go ahead with the Mutual Exchange, please contact your Housing Officer who will need to arrange a home visit and give final approval.
All swaps must be approved by us before they can take place. We can refuse your application for reasons like; one of the properties is adapted for disabled tenants or where one of the properties would become overcrowded or under occupied.
