Parks and open spaces

Welcome to Mansfield's parks and open spaces. Mansfield has more than 600 acres of parks and open spaces including award winning parks, play areas, allotments, local nature reserves, sports facilities, walks and trails.

Peafield Park in Mansfield Woodhouse has become the third of Mansfield's parks to win a prestigious Green Flag award

We want you to get the most from the parks and open spaces, whether you're taking a stroll, walking the dog, or taking the children to the play area. You may want to organise a group event, five-a-side football, or a gathering of the scouts or guides. Whatever you may want to do, we will try to make it happen.

Development

A programme of investment and refurbishment makes sure our parks offer a wide range of high quality sports, play and recreational facilities as well as hosting a number of major community events throughout the year including the annual play day at Carr Bank Park and Party in the Park at Titchfield Park. This is partly achieved by listening to your views and combining them with our development aims.

Some developments over the years include:

Carr Bank Park

Following a major renovation in 1998 the park has been upgraded to include sculpture trails, play area, a rose garden, wildflower meadow, a performance area for outdoor events, refurbished tennis courts and a multi-sports area for basketball and football.  In 2008 a new children s play area was installed, with an interactive 'I-Play' facility. More recently a bandstand was erected, this gives local bands of all types an opportunity to perform to the public in excellent park surroundings, for further information please contact us.

Titchfield Park

Underwent £1.3m worth of improvements in 2003. New features include new play areas and pavilion, new floral bedding, bronze artworks and seating features co-designed by local school children. Since then the park has continued to be improved and enhanced with refurbishment of flowerbeds, increased schools involvement, and in 2011 outdoor gym equipment was installed as well as a boule playing area was installed to accommodate the Mansfield Petanque Club who have been on site since 2009. For information regarding the Petanque Club contact The Parks Development Team.

Fisher Lane Park

The location for the first skate plaza in the district and also the county of Nottinghamshire. Developed by group a of young people with support from Mansfield District Council, this pioneering project features objects that can be commonly found in the urban environment which young people use for skateboarding, bmxing, bike trialing, rollerblading, scootering and even free running. It has been developed in a sympathetic way to the park with the addition of soft landscaping, seating and coloured concrete.
