Sports Development Unit
Our Sports Development Unit was established in October 1997. The multi-faceted role of sports development has become an increasingly important part of providing equal opportunities for sport and recreation within the local community environment.

The Sports Development Officer works with a number of sports, which have been identified through consultation with the County Governing Bodies. Working in partnerships to develop Clubs and Volunteers, to make sure sustainability of new junior sections and encouraging more volunteers into sport. Mansfield District Council Sports Development works in partnership with several agencies which have made a commitment in terms of what they are able to input into the initiative / relationship, on the basis that some of the outputs will help them to achieve their overall goal.
Our Sports Development work encourages sporting opportunities for people of all ages and levels of interest or ability.

Sport Club Forum
We want to enhance everyone's opportunity to take part in sport and physical activity and we aim to work with the clubs of Mansfield to raise awareness of the activities on offer throughout Mansfield. We have created a Sports Club Forum which takes place every 3 months to allow us to provide local clubs with relevant information on local issues, sports initiatives, school-club links, training needs, funding opportunities and to enhance partnership working between Clubs, Education and Local Authorities. It also allows benchmarking and best practice to be shared between the clubs in order to enhance what they are able to offer.
If you have a club in the Mansfield area and would be keen to join the forum please contact Martin Cook on 01623 463 026 or email mcook@mansfield.gov.uk
