Some of the cemeteries' records are very old and fragile. To protect them they are kept in a specially created fire-proof strong room.
We cannot let members of the public handle the records to do their own searches. The records are also covered by the data protection act which protects the personal information of other people. However, our staff will be happy to search the records on your behalf and will give you all details relating to a burial.
If you visit us at the crematorium we can usually provide this service while you wait, providing you have not got a long list of names. If you write to us by letter or email we can usually reply within a few days (depending on the number of records requested). Please help us by supplying accurate names and dates if possible, as this will reduce the time it takes for us to do the search.
