Over the past two years there have been significant changes in the way homelessness advice and assistance has been delivered in Mansfield District and the success that these changes have achieved has resulted in the authority being named by Department of Communities and Local Government as;

The second Mansfield Interagency Homelessness Strategy is now available and has been developed with the help of a wide range of organisations and individuals and homeless people themselves. It sets out what we think needs to happen over the next five years. The document is available from the links at the right side of this page.
What we will do
Housing Solutions provides advice, assistance and practical support to prevent homelessness wherever possible. If you are in priority need, we will find you temporary accommodation as soon as you are homeless while we look into your circumstances. Temporary accommodation can be our temporary accommodation units. Staying with friends or relatives may be the best option for you if it will be a short time before you find other accommodation.
If you are unable to continue living in your current accommodation and have nowhere else that is reasonable for you to stay we will assess your circumstances under homelessness law.

Priority Card System
If you are accepted for long term re-housing, you will be given a priority card. Your card will contain details of your name, current address, your priority card number and the date your card was awarded. This will give you preference over other applicants without a priority card. For details on how to apply for a property contact Moveahead.
If you are having difficulties in making your mortgage payments, and are in danger of becoming homeless as a result, you may be eligible for help to stay in your home.
