Gambling Act 2005 Section 349
Current Statement of Principles 2013 - 2016
Notice is hereby given that the Licensing Authority of Mansfield District Council have published, following consultation, a revised Statement of Principles to be applied in exercising their functions under the above Act during the three year period to which the statement applies.
The Statement of Principles was published on 30th October, 2012 and came into effect on 31st January, 2013.
The Statement of Principles is available here on the Authority's Website, within the public area of the offices of Mansfield District Council at the Civic Centre, Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield, Notts and is also available for inspection at the public Libraries:
- Mansfield, Four Seasons Centre, West Gate, Mansfield, NG18 1NH.
- Mansfield Woodhouse, Church Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, NG19 8AH.
- Warsop, High Street, Warsop, NG20 0AG
Each Licensing Authority is required to prepare a statement of principles (the 'Statement') that they propose to apply in exercising their functions under the Gambling Act 2005 (the 'Act'). Once the Statement has been approved, it has to be published and reviewed at least every three years.
In accordance with the Act, this Licensing Authority issued its revised Draft Statement for public consultation. The consultation period during which comments were invited ended on the 7th September 2012.
In order to ensure the final Statement was appropriate for businesses and residents throughout the Mansfield district, a copy of the Draft Statement was sent specifically to various key individuals and organisations as part of the consultation stage. Any written submissions received as a result of this process were then carefully considered, and where appropriate or legally permissible, were incorporated within the Draft Statement.
At the full Council meeting on the 30th October 2012, the revised Draft Statement of Principles was considered and formally adopted, and therefore came into force on the 31 January 2013 for a maximum period of three years.
Our Statement of Principles sets out the approach of this Authority in promoting the three licensing objectives.
The objectives set by the Act are:
- Preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime.
- Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way.
- Protecting children and other vulnerable persons form being harmed or exploited by gambling.
