For £30 per year we provide a 240 litre brown bin for the collection of your garden waste. We can provide smaller 120 litre bins for those customers who have smaller amounts of garden waste, however the cost remains the same.
For £30 per year we provide an all year-round collection service. Collections are fortnightly from March to November and once a month in December, January and February.
You can pay for up to three additional garden waste bins; each bin will cost £15.
We only cover certain areas within the district. You can use our map [454kb] to see if we visit your area.
If you had the service last year, you will be sent an invoice in the post in February. If you have received an invoice you can pay now for this year's service. If you haven't received your invoice please call our Contact Centre on 01623 463463.
If you do not already receive the service but would like to join the scheme you will need to sign up.
If you want to recycle your garden waste but don't want to subscribe to this scheme you can compost your waste at home.
Once you have signed up and made an initial payment for the service you can set up a direct debit for future years. Each year around the beginning of February we will send you a new invoice for the forthcoming collection year.
You can use your brown bin to recycle:
- grass cuttings
- hedge trimmings
- small branches and twigs
- weeds, and
- cut flowers.
Please do not put the following items in your brown bin:
- food and kitchen waste
- garden furniture
- treated wood
- soil, bricks or rocks
- large logs, and
- building waste.

Your bin should be put out by 6.30am on the day of collection.
It should be removed from the pavement no later than 12 noon the day after collection. It is an offence to leave your bin out past this time and enforcement action may be taken if your bin is not removed.
Your bin may be collected at any time on your scheduled collection day. Our crews start collections at 6.30am each day and your bin must be made available for collection by this time.
If you find your bin has not been emptied by 4pm on the scheduled day of collection, please let us know and we can then check the crew's report sheets to see if there were any problems. You can call our Contact Centre on 01623 463463 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
We will not return for a missed bin if:
- It was not out before 6.30am on your scheduled collection day
- The crew have reported that the bin was not out
- It does not have a valid sticker
- Your bin contains incorrect materials or is too heavy
- The waste was compacted in the bin and would not empty. (In these circumstances you should free the compacted waste so that it will empty on the next collection day)
Any incorrect materials or heavy items must be removed from your bin before your next scheduled collection or we will not be able to empty it.
Any missed bins must be reported within 48 hours of your collection day and after 4pm on the collection day itself (when the crews will have completed their rounds and provided their round sheets).

Please note: Our bin lorries sometimes have problems accessing roads due to blocked roads and poor parking. Please be considerate when you park your car on the road. If the waste and recycling lorries cannot access the street the bins will not be emptied. We will always aim to empty the bins and to return for the bins if we cannot access them on our first attempt. However, we cannot give a definite return date.
