View Map | Mansfield Museum Temporary Exhibitions For this new exhibition, East Midlands based artists will be responding to issues surrounding landscape, environmental and cultural changes in the Nottinghamshire area following the closure of mines and the re-use of former coalfield sites. The socio-economic changes and implications of the closure of mining operations are still being felt today in all the communities surrounding collieries that have closed, and many an old miner has an interesting tale to tell. Landscapes of former coalfields are changing rapidly – some sites have been turned into country parks, while others are being redeveloped as industrial and commercial sites, and some old pit villages are now deserted ghost-towns. Free entry. | Outlook |

View Map | Mansfield Museum Temporary Exhibitions Have you met the Queen? In June, to mark the Diamond Jubilee, we are hoping to mount a small display called ‘Our Queen’. At the centre of this, we hope, will be contributions from our visitors based on any contact you have ever had with Her Majesty during her long reign. These do not have to have happened in Mansfield and can take any form, from photographs to oral accounts which we might record. This is another chance for you to get involved with us, on however small a scale. If you have anything you think might be appropriate. Please contact Jodie Henshaw 01623 463088 jhenshaw@mansfield.gov.uk Event suitable for All Free entry. | Outlook |
