Plenty to pick from at the Palace!

It's hard to picture dark winter nights whilst we are enjoying endless summer sunshine, but that's exactly what Palace Theatre staff have been busy planning for over the last few months! The result is their September - December season's brochure which is bursting with shows to suit all ages and tastes. They are even offering you chance to see behind the curtain with a FREE Backstage Pass event! Read on to find out what's coming to your premier local entertainment venue this Autumn and Winter...

Mansfield Palace Theatre Sept 2018 guide

Mansfield Palace Theatre are offering you the opportunity to see behind the scenes at their Backstage Pass event on 15 September. Book your free ticket for a 30 minute tour backstage and get to see how the stage crew work their magic, where the artistes get dressed and have a look up close at the backstage technology. Finally, be entertained by a brief demonstration of strobe / flashing lighting and pyrotechnics wizardry whilst seated in the beautiful, inviting auditorium.

As always - in line with customer feedback demand - there are a huge range of tribute shows coming to the Leeming Street stage next season. Rock for Heroes (21 September) combines all your favourite rock and pop artists across the eras whilst fundraising for Help for Heroes. That'll be the Day returns with a brand new show on 25 September. The outstanding vocal talents of Claire Furley and pianist Phil Aldridge will tell The Carpenters Story (7 October), followed by Let's Hang On paying tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons (12 October) and Talon presenting The Eagles' greatest hits on 14 October.
If you love Stevie Wonder then you'll love Signed, Sealed, Delivered on 13 October. Lejaune Andre will be joined on stage by a fabulous seven-piece band, outstanding backing vocalists and top dancers. The following weekend sees The Johnny Cash Roadshow (19 October) and Gary Mullen and the Works - One Night of Queen (20 October) head into town. Breath-taking vocal and piano performances, flamboyant costumes and a dazzling light show combine in Rocket Man - A Tribute to Sir Elton John on 25 October.

Navi brings his tribute to Michael Jackson back to the theatre on 21 October, with other returning favourites Whitney - Queen of the Night (2 November), ELO Experience (3 November), The Drifters (11 November), You Win Again - celebrating the music of the Bee Gees (13 November) and Buddy Holly Reborn (22 November) also appearing on the programme.

A nostalgic and fun-packed musical journey through the sights and sounds of the swinging sixties is on offer in Twist and Shout on 26 October. Steve Steinman - the creative force behind the hugely successful Vampires Rock - returns with The Meatloaf Story musical concert on 27 October.

Several original artistes will grace the Palace stage next season, starting with Bringing back the 60s featuring Amen Corner and Nancy Lee (6 September). Folk fans are in for a treat with Steeleye Span (10 October), Foster and Allen (31 October) and BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winners Moore, Moss and Rutter performing Folk in the Studio on 11 November.

The BAFTA nominated Grimethorpe Colliery Band appear on 23 September and fresh from their stint on ITV's Last Laugh in Vegas, the multi-talented Anita Harris and evergreen all-round entertainer Kenny Lynch star in The Rat Pack show on 3 October. Award-winning band The Bluejays take you on a jiving journey through the fifties in Rock and Roll Revolution on 18 October. Neil Sands' brings his annual Christmas Memories matinee to the venue on 14 November to round off the season's nostalgic performances.

Cultural Services Manager Andrew Tucker tells us: "Families with younger children are particularly well catered for this season. Peppa Pig will bring her friends (12 - 13 September), whilst in October we have Guess How Much I Love You (11 October) and Tabby McTat (30 October) to enthral the little ones." Ministry of Science Live will explode onto the stage on 9 October, with this year's festive pantomime treat of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (starring Sue Holderness and Adam Moss) rounding off 2018 and kicking off 2019 between 1 December and 6 January.

Join a cast of West End singers and live band as they take you on a journey through music from The Greatest Showman, Moulin Rouge, Barnum and other film musicals in The Greatest Show on 24 October.

Customers are encouraged to support local talent with performances of Spamalot by Masque Productions from 6-10 November and Legally Blonde by New Youth Theatre on 20 and 21 November. Various dance schools will take the spotlight including Expressions who present their 29th annual showcase, Time, on 1 and 2 September. The usual mix of entertainment will be presented at Festival of Remembrance on 28 October, this year commemorating 100 years since the end of World War One. Perhaps the most famous local talent was Alvin Stardust, who will be remembered by his musician friends including Vince Eager and Rik Gaynor, in a memorial concert on 22 September, to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK. The same date sees the opening of a 'Stardust Memories' exhibition at Mansfield Museum which will run until 17 November.

Other fantastic shows programmed for the forthcoming months include Forbidden Nights' Sexy Circus tour (18 September), award-winning stand-up comedian Chris Ramsey's Just Happy to get out of the House Tour (2 October), TV's Psychic Sally (17 October) and Circus of Horrors who return by popular demand on 23 November.

Last but by no means least are the season's brochure cover stars, Ballet Theatre UK, who present the enchanting love story of Belle in Beauty and the Beast on 18 November.
