The veterans' charter

Members of the charter

The veterans' charter is a commitment by services in the Mansfield district to recognise that war veterans may have issues that can impact on their wellbeing and affect their adjustment to civilian life.

The veterans' charter

The pdf icon Mansfield veterans' charter [98kb] was launched in 2009 and has since helped support many ex-service personnel in a variety of ways.

The charter brings together agencies to address a number of common issues for service men and women, including:

  • access to social housing when leaving the forces,
  • retraining for employment, and
  • support groups for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Partner organisations who have signed up to the charter include:

  • Mansfield District Council
  • Jobcentre Plus
  • NHS Nottinghamshire
  • Nottinghamshire Police
  • The Royal British Legion
  • The National Gulf Veterans and Families Association, and
  • Mansfield Council for Voluntary Services.

The Mansfield Veterans' Charter states the shared principles of the service providers and includes the main signatories.
