Animal Boarding Licence

The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals)

(England) Regulations 2018

On 1 October 2018 the new animal welfare licensing regulations come into force. The regulations combine and update a number of current Licensing Acts involving pet shops, animal boarding establishments, riding establishments, dog breeding and performing animals.

Licence fees and charges are currently being reviewed and will be published in due course.

If you run a business which provides accommodation for other people's cats and/or dogs you must get a licence from the local authority. The number of cats and/or dogs that can be accommodated, along with any other conditions, will be specified on the licence.
