Preparing for emergencies in your community

Why plan for emergencies?

Understanding the risks and threats

Preparing yourself

Our aim is to ensure Mansfield is a safe place to live, with resilient communities able to provide support during times of crisis.

Why plan for emergencies?

Our district is a safe place to live and work, however emergencies do occur which can have a significant impact on your everyday activities.

During an emergency, local responders may have to prioritise their response on those in the greatest need and areas where life is at risk. You should be prepared to look after yourself, and support vulnerable people within your community, until further assistance can be provided.

Understanding the risks and threats

Whilst preparing for emergencies, you should ensure that you understand the risks and threats which you may face.

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Resilience Forum (LRF) has produced a Community Risk Register, which highlights and quantifies the risks you may face.

The National Risk Register also provides guidance on the risks and threats the UK faces.

Preparing yourself

You can take some simple steps to make sure you are ready for any emergency that might happen. More information about preparing for emergencies is available on the following websites:
