Timetable of events

Saturday 20 May: Love Local party - enjoy a day of fun with furry friends from White Post Farm, live music, giant garden games and face painting - 11am to 3pm.

Wednesday 24 May: Live cookery demonstrations and free recipe packs with entertainment by West Notts College - 11am to 2pm. Plus it's all about food safety with BBQs and outdoor eating on most people's agenda this summer. The Environmental Health team will be on hand to offer free help and advice. Here's a message from the team:

"Environmental Health is spending some time this year encouraging people to follow safe practices in their kitchens and when having a BBQ. Cross contamination, under cooking and temperature control can lead to food poisoning. We will be talking to people about what to look out for to prevent cross contamination (ie bacteria from raw food or equipment contaminating cooked or ready to eat food). We will also be giving tips on how to check that food is cooked thoroughly.

"We are also promoting our ' Healthier Options Takeaway'(HOT) scheme. Businesses throughout our district are being signed up to participate in the scheme. It is aimed at businesses that score 3 or more under the FHRS - Food Hygiene Rating Scheme - and that offer an element of takeaway food. To attain the merit the business needs to pledge to offer some healthier options as part of their menu. We currently have 17 businesses signed up to the scheme and there will be more to follow. Officers will be providing information about which businesses are participating."

Friday 26 May: Arts and craft market with homemade products, crafts, gifts and food. The entertainment will include crochet sessions with Yankee Yarns, and hanging basket making workshops 11am to 2pm. Learn how to make a poppy and be part of the Poppy Parade. Read the Poppy Parade due to hit Mansfield article for more details.

The special markets run from 8.30am to 4pm alongside usual market stalls, which include fresh produce, clothing and pet items. Stalls at the specialist markets can be booked by calling 01623 463818 or send an email.

More information about what's on at Mansfield Market along with details about how to rent a market stall for free can be found here.
